What we hold about you, why we hold it, and what you can do about it — in plain English.
The things we need to look after you well: your name and contact details, who to call in an emergency, your GP, your medication, your conditions, your preferences and routines, and notes our carers write at each visit. Nothing more than that.
So we can give you safe, personalised care, communicate with you and the people you've nominated, and meet the records-keeping rules that CQC and the law require of us.
On secure UK-based systems — never sent abroad. The paper notes in your home stay in your home; everything else is encrypted, password-protected, and only seen by people who need to see it.
Your care team and our care coordinators. Plus anyone you choose to share it with through our family portal, and your GP or emergency services if something happens and they need to help. We never sell your information or pass it to marketers.
Care records for 8 years after your care ends (CQC requires this); finance records for 7 years (HMRC requires this); enquiries that don't go anywhere are deleted after 2 years. After that it's securely destroyed.
You can ask to see what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it (within the limits of the rules above), or ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Just contact us — we'll respond within 30 days.
Just ask — no form to fill in, no jargon required.
You can also raise concerns directly with the Information Commissioner's Office.
